Disclaimer: I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Some points may be considered as spoilers.I want to first point out that the book is very British. I read a lot of British fiction and usually don't have an issue with it. In this book the differences were severly noticeable. "after clocking off" The numerous grammatical errors don't make it any easier to read. "She sent the kids out to the back garden to play while the two friends had a cup of tea and a chit chat, and then while Sam went off to take a shower, Chole read them both a story." I was told that I may like this book because it's "like 50 Shades of Grey." It's not - whether you like 50 Shades or not - this book is nothing like it.
The characters are very one-dimensional. The book follows a standard house wife porn plot (cheated on by her husband the woman goes in search of some sex God) but the story is very drawn out. Rather then start with meeting the new romance, the book starts with Sam finding out about the affair her husband is having. Because this part of the story is a lead in for the real story it's rushed and not well thought out. That part could have easily been dealt with during a memory or a conversation rather than taking up a quarter of the book. Particularly since she doesn't do any reflecting or even speak to the husband for almost the entire time.
The author tells us alot of things about the characters, sometimes to the point of wondering if the author is giving a moral lesson. But the characters don't reflect the traits that we are told they have. For example, we are told that Sam doesn't drink much. Were we supposed to forget the that she drank several bottles of wine on 2 occasions prior to this announcement since her husband was kicked out? And proceeds to have several drinks followed by several more bottles of wine?
The book is written in thrid person but from Sam's perspective. She comes across as mostly helpless and very morally superior, right up until she's willing to do exactly what her husband did. Sleep with someone while she is still married. Admittedly she hasn't let her husband in the house for 6 weeks but she still accepts his gifts and apologies. I don't know if would be considered better or worse that her tryst was intended to be a one night stand while her husband's offense was a romance with a coworker that lasted several months. I will say that it's telling that Lachlan, the new lover, has no morals of his own. After hearing that Sam is married, a fact that slips once everyone is naked, he makes no effort to stop or discuss the issue. He's not concerned that he's about to sleep with a maried woman, or that he was going in completely unprotected, or even that she's one her 3rd or 4th glass of champagne when he suduces her. Oddly, she doesn't seem to concerned about it either. She goes home and opens another bottle of wine to drink while she tells her friend all the details of her office antics.
The sad fact is that once the sex finally starts, about half way through the book, it's standard for the Bodice Ripper genre. It's all stuff that she wouldn't normally do, positions she never been in, and her acting completely different then she did with her husband. Which somehow makes her realize that she's been having bad sex with her husband and it's his fault. The real shocker for me was when Sam's friend, Chloe, tried to justify Sam's behaviour with a standard "but everyone is doing it" (having one night stands) response.
The book dsiplays cheating and one night stands/F*** Buddies as a normal and romantic notion. The female lead has no strength or personality of her own. And the male lead reads like a frat boy whose only interest in getting laid. Not really a romantic concet. To be clear I am not against the books based on the sex. I'm against them because they are poorly written, not well thought out and have some very confusing moral concepts (cheating is ok, letting one man send you gifts while you sleep around with another, unprotected one night stands, drinking to excess as a way to deal with your problems).
Overall I can't recommend this book.

The Horny Housewife edition by Melissa Wright Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A secret pleasure. My husband didn't know what hit him... living Sam's reality in a hot oasis of my own!!!! Melissa knows how to reach a reader and draw her in. I cant wait for more from this author. More please!!!!!!
It wasn't just a Wham, Bam, Thank you ma'am story. The back story was also well-written and kept the reader hanging on.
I was pleasantly surprised and glued to this book. The steam was definitely rising from my brain.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
When I was sent the book I was a little surprised by the title. I was imagining the story was about a younger version of my mom stalking the milkman or the postman.
Well, my mind was playing tricks again. Because that was far from reality.
Sam finds out that her husband has been cheating on her. So she decides to start working again so that she can face the new situation.
At her new job, she meets Lachlan, a gorgeous junior manager who is younger than her. And they start a relationship full of hot and sexy moments.
This book is really short, so you can read it in less than an hour.
I'm curious about what Sam will do in the next book and if Lachlan will come back or not.
From beginning to end I was sucked into this book. It was extremely smexy. Must get next book. Just fantastic
This book was full of heartbreak, passion, friendship, hot sex & love!! It's very well written and I found that once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down! The way the author describes what is happening between two people makes it feel more real. There's a real story there and not just dirty sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, the sex was hot, wet, hard, forceful, satisfying and had multiple orgasms for the books main character, Sam, but there was also a sweetness of discovery for both of them. She had been in a long marriage and had two children with a man that had never given her oral sex and to top it off the bastard was cheating on her. I feel like Lachlan brought out an inner sex goddess that Sam didn't even realize she was capable of. It made me so anxious when they were having sex at work because I just knew someone was going to walk in and catch them going at it! I would like for it to have been a little longer only because I enjoyed it so well and I didn't want her to be hurt again. This book is a great read and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys short, erotic stories.
Samantha is a mom of two, married, housewife and when she discovers her husband was having an affair she kicks him out so she can figure things out. Does she stay with him or move on? During this time she has to find a job and mend an open wound.
While she's at work, Lachlan, a much younger boss begins to flirt with her and one thing leads to the next before they begin hooking up.
At 73 pages this is a quick read! However, there were a few things that [personally,] bothered me that kept me from giving this a higher rating. While Samantha most definitely has any right to make with her body it is the fact she is told [by Lachlan,] that he doesn't want to see her wearing X, that he doesn't like them on her and more specifically when Samantha says she isn't sure she's ready to date anyone he actually chuckles and says "Date you? I don't want to date you." I don't know why I found that rather insulting to Samantha - she didn't seem to mind any. I did.
Overall it wasn't a bad short to read. If you're looking for a quick read to gulp up during a break at work, or something to devour while kicking off a book hangover this would be a quickie [pun intended,] to pick up.
